Still widely used by clients and allies of former USSR.
Descendant directly from famous T-34. Firepower was
increased with a 100mm gun. The distinctive rounded turret provides
good armor protection. T-54/55 can be distinguished
from the T-62 by the gap between the first and second road
wheels. Total production may be up to 57,000. Many variations and
modifications produced. Standard equipment includes NBC system,
fire detection and suppression, and night vision equipment. Used by
over 47 nations.
