Developed shortly after WWII with over 8600 built.  The M36
90mm gun was a new design with a concentric recoil system.
A new turret (T42) was mounted on the proven M46 hull.
Large turret bustle housed the radio and ventilator.  There 
was no computerized fire control system.  In service only a
short time, replaced by M48.  Poor range with gas engine.
Large numbers supplied to NATO countries.
