Mobile tank hunter. The converted 3” AA gun
was a powerful AT gun in 1943. Open-top welded fully
rotating turret. 7,000 built. Saw service in Normandy. Relatively thin sloping armor plates used. Not a complete success in combat. In WWII, Tank Destroyers were a separate branch of 
armor. Used by the British who replaced the 3" gun with the 
more powerful 17pdr and designated the vehicle "Wolverine".
